We are delighted to announce that Md. Lutfur Rahman CPD has joined the Center for Project Innovation as our representative in Bangladesh.
Lutfur brings an impressive background in project management and strategic leadership, honed through years of delivering transformative projects with global impact.
His commitment to collaboration and sustainable development has already led to a partnership with The Foundation of Chartered Taxation of Bangladesh, a milestone in strengthening professional networks in the region.
Lutfur’s professional journey spans over a decade of high-impact roles. From 2018 to 2022, he served as Project Manager (Procurement Projects and Contracts) with The World Bank, where he:
- Developed detailed project management plans to support implementation and capacity building.
- Led the preparation and supervision of branding strategies for export-oriented manufacturing sectors in Bangladesh.
- Coordinated the development and execution of environmental, social, and quality compliance guidelines.
- Managed procurement and contracts under World Bank and Bangladesh Public Procurement guidelines.
- Represented his organisation at forums and negotiations both domestically and internationally.
Earlier, Lutfur contributed to the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh, as Senior Assistant Secretary (Projects, Innovation & Trade Competitiveness). In this role, he developed sectoral export policies, action plans for sustainable development goals (SDGs), and frameworks for innovation in ready-made garments. He introduced digital filing systems, conducted feasibility studies, and engaged stakeholders to enhance private sector growth.
Additionally, Lutfur’s expertise has been recognised internationally. He has served as a Senior Subject Matter Expert on Project Management with the Project Management Institute (PMI) since 2021 and as a PMI South Asia Champion, working to empower project managers in the region. His previous roles as a PMI VIP SME in the Netherlands and New Zealand underscore his global leadership in project management education.
Reflecting on his career and passion for project management, Lutfur shared:

My journey—from leading transformative initiatives with the Bangladesh Government and The World Bank to delivering flagship projects for the Australian Government—has reinforced that success lies in uniting diverse stakeholders around strategic goals and aligning vision, collaboration, and execution.”
Lutfur credits his Certified Project Director (CPD) certification with making him a better project leader:
