Bringing projects to life involves problem solving, imagination and flexibility. You'll seldom find the best solution thinking inside the box.
At the Center for Project Innovation, we train and certify great project managers so they can be the change we need to see in the world.
Like many of the great innovators who inspire us, we're quietly making a difference on every continent in the world, including Antarctica.
We also work extensively with government, private and not-for-profit partners to create job-ready skills where they're needed, facilitate best practice in project leadership, and mentor professional project managers working on a fascinating array of projects.
Here are a few of the cool things we've been up to.
Bringing projects to life involves problem solving, imagination and flexibility. You'll seldom find the best solution thinking inside the box.
We focus on what works in the real world. Our content, approach and community are shaped by hands-on experience and grounded in outcomes that matter.
We believe education and opportunity should be freely accessible to everyone, regardless of geography, wealth, or background. That's why our online course is free.
We do the right thing, even when no one's watching. Our work is guided by integrity, respect, and a clear sense of accountability.
Founder & Managing Director
Founded in 2009 as the Institute of Project Management, the Center for Project Innovation is proud of its well-earned reputation as the quiet professionals of the project management world.
Our purpose has always been to enable innovation within our community of clients, practitioners, and stakeholders.
Together, we’ve helped realize tens of thousands of projects worth hundreds of billions of dollars, experience we use to bring our training to life.
The Center for Project Innovation is internationally accredited by the US & Australian governments and their treaty partners as the official certifying body for the following project management credentials:
As a condition of certification, our alumni and mentors are required to uphold best practice principles outlined in our Code of Ethics for Project Management Professionals.
Learning by doing
Learners are introduced to and expected to use authentic project management tools and practices in converting their knowledge into skill.
Emotional learning
We endeavor to understand each learner’s cognitive and non-cognitive mindset, identifying and responding to distractions, frustrations and other barriers to learning.
Reflective learning
Learners are encouraged to challenge their current behavior, critically evaluating their performance through the lens of good practice.
Computational learning
Our approach is to break large problems down into smaller ones, drawing on logical reasoning to identify patterns, abstraction and motivating causes.
Crossover learning
We create instructor-led and peer-to-peer learning opportunities beyond the classroom, meeting and exchanging knowledge in virtual and informal spaces.
Incidental learning
Learners are shown how to apply a project management filter to their world and encouraged to identify learning opportunities as they go.
Adaptive learning
Our facilitators and mentors use their acquired knowledge of individual and organizational project capability to personalize learning paths.
Our certification framework is built on three pillars: knowledge, skills, and experience.
We believe that true professional capability goes beyond theory, so our assessments are designed to validate practical competence as well as conceptual understanding.
The Center for Project Innovation’s Certifications are therefore unique in that candidates must:
Importantly, certification assessment is intentionally independent of training, mentoring, and facilitation.
This ensures that certification reflects genuine capability rather than course completion, maintaining the integrity and global recognition of our credentials.
The Center for Project Innovation stays at the forefront of project management through a proven strategy of sector engagement and continuous improvement.
Our approach informs training and assessment design, delivery, and the ongoing professional development of our team.
We achieve this by:
In addition, we continually refresh our resources and certification approach through our global working group of industry experts, mentors, trainers, and assessors, ensuring our programs reflect current best practices and emerging trends.
Our ultimate goal is to be easy to work with while maximizing opportunities for graduates to secure their ideal careers and for industry partners to engage with highly capable professionals.
The Center for Project Innovation is committed to sustainability through environmentally responsible practices, digital-first learning solutions, and scalable delivery models that minimize our carbon footprint.
When delivering in-person training, we encourage students to bring their own laptops or digital devices to access lecture slides, take notes, explore project management apps, complete assessments, and use supplementary resources such as tools and templates, eliminating the need for printed materials.
All exclusive digital content, including any notes, edits or updates participants make, remains permanently available via their OPEN account after the event. This ensures ongoing access without additional resource consumption.
We also continually refresh our resources and certification approach to align with evolving sustainability standards and best practices. Our goal is to equip project professionals to deliver projects that create long-term value for organizations, communities, and the planet.
