What is the Emerging Leaders Program?

The Center for Project Innovation’s Emerging Leaders Program is an all-inclusive project management certification initiative designed to welcome early-career professionals, regardless of their prior experience or knowledge in project management.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked in project management before.  The skills you’ll learn here are incredibly versatile; they’re not just for managing projects but will help you succeed in all kinds of jobs in corporations, government, non-profits, start-ups, or social enterprises.

The program includes 12 classes, each lasting an hour and a half, where you’ll learn everything you need to know to successfully initiate, plan, deliver, and close projects.

Completing the program fulfills the requirements for admission to the Center for Project Innovation as a Certified Project Officer (CPO), a globally recognized credential that shows you know your stuff when it comes to getting projects done.

Our Emerging Leaders Program is all about giving you the tools and confidence to take on projects and lead them to success, making it a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to make their mark in the professional world.

Why should I attend?

Project management is the art of getting things done.

It is a skill that is universally applicable, transcending job titles, industries and sectors.

Whether you’re in a technical field, creative profession, or leadership role, how you manage projects will determine how well you achieve your goals and drive success.

The Center for Project Innovation’s Emerging Leaders program introduces you to the fundamentals of initiating, planning, delivering, and closing projects of every description.

In a collaborative setting with like-minded peers, you will cover both predictive and agile methods, as well as people, processes, and risk.

The critical value of project management in the labor market is well-established, and admission through this program as a Certified Project Officer (CPO) speaks to your proficiency in this highly regarded professional skill set.

Ultimately, it gives employers confidence that they can assign you a task, resources, and a deadline and that you will make it happen.

Where and when is the CPO workshop?

This workshop is a virtual, instructor-led training event.

The 12 sessions run every Tuesday and Thursday evenings for four (4) weeks from May 7, 2024.

Each session commences at 7 pm and formally finishes 90 minutes later, although your instructor will stay for another 30 minutes to answer any individual questions you may have.

A link to each session will be made available to registered participants.

If you cannot attend a session, you can complete the equivalent unit online in OPEN on your own time.

What should I bring?

Ensure you have a quiet and distraction-free environment. This space should be conducive to learning and allow you to fully focus on each session’s content without interruptions.

Make sure you have a stable internet connection and have downloaded any necessary materials for notes or reference.

You should also prepare some examples or case studies from your own experience that are relevant to each topic.

These real-world examples can contribute valuable insight during discussions and help in understanding the application of theoretical concepts.

But perhaps the most important thing to bring is a curious and open mind.

Be ready to explore new ideas, ask questions, and engage critically with the material and discussions.

A curious mind will help you absorb more information and make the most out of each topic.

How much does it cost?

For a limited time, the instructor-led Emerging Leaders virtual workshop series is being offered for the same price as self-paced, online certification ($250).

Candidates who successfully complete this series will automatically be admitted to the Center for Project Innovation as a CPO – there is no separate examination or application process.

CPI certifications are also for life – you will never be required to pay membership, subscription, or renewal fees to maintain your certification.

Once admitted as a CPO, you will automatically receive $100 off the cost of higher-level certifications.

Hear from our alumni

This program is an absolute game changer. I wish I would have received this training much earlier in my career. I had an outstanding coach and the material they teach can be applied to any industry the same day you learn it. Absolutely stellar program. Strongly recommend for any professional at any level.

This was an informative and challenging course. I really enjoyed the online platform in which the information was presented and feel that I walked away with knowledge that is applicable to my current position and future opportunities. I highly recommened CPI and their studies!

Cortney Skane

The Emerging Leaders Program has been an invaluable resource for me. It has helped me to better understand how to properly manage projects, prioritize tasks, and set achievable goals. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to develop their project management skills.

I had attended a PMP prep course before this and did not feel like I learned much as the material was very dry and the presentation was not very thorough. CPI takes on a completely different approach by breaking down complex theories and materials in the way we would use them real world.
